After being shuttled between her mother and eight different foster homes before the age of three, and finally being adopted, Helen Rose imagined she would finally know what it was to be loved. Her adoptive family turned out to be extremely dysfunctional, with a mother who was cold and distant, and a father who was a functioning alcoholic. After spreading her wings and moving away at the age of 16 to find her own way, Helen met and fell in love with an amazing man and finally felt the love she had been looking for her whole life until one text changed it all.
